Hellenic Association of  Positive Psychology, Greece

Hellenic Association of Positive Psychology (HAPPSY) is a nonprofit scientific organization aiming at promoting Positive Psychology. Although it was officially established in 2010, its origins date back in 1998 when the President, Dr. Anastassios Stalikas, professor at Panteion University, created the positive emotions’ research team. HAPPSY is a leading Greek organization in scientific research, education, and dissemination of Positive Psychology. It works towards developing new scientific knowledge, promoting research, and creating awareness on Positive Psychology. Specifically, HAPPSY aims at advancing the scientific understanding of the basic mechanisms and principles of Positive Psychology, incorporating Positive Psychology principles into the on-going research for the promotion and understanding of human growth and well-being, as well as exploring, locating and developing traits, qualities and processes, which nurture the growth of people, groups and organizations. HAPPSY researchers also try to systematically explore and test techniques for the successful application of Positive Psychology in the fields of mental health, psychotherapy, and education on an individual, group or organizational level. Moreover, members of HAPPSY collaborated with Panteion University for the design and implementation of many European Erasmus+ projects, such as HOPEs, EAGLES, SUCCESS, and SAFER.

It aims to promote a positive outlook towards life and work experiences, boost the creativity, resilience, wellbeing, engagement and overall performance of individuals and organizations. Its vision is to contribute to the improvement of the society’s quality of life through the continuous development of the individual, the family, the human resources of businesses and educational organisations. In order to achieve its vision, offers a wide range of services such as research, consulting and trainings as well as services for the effective management of human resources, ranging from strategic human resource planning, career guidance and general support. It has participated in a variety of EU projects that include applications of positive psychology to support different target groups such as youth, primary and high school students, parents, unemployed and workers.

The Rural Hub, Ireland

The Rural Hub was set up as an association by a group of education, training and rural development professionals as a response to the impact of the economic crisis on small rural villages and towns in Ireland. Since it was first established in 2012, The Rural Hub has been providing a wide range of training and capacity development programmes to local residents and community groups.  We specialise in the area of community development and have developed a number of local initiatives to support the social inclusion of disadvantaged rural youth, migrant communities and isolated older residents.  We work with these groups, using creative approaches and the testing of digital media resources to support greater social cohesion among local communities in County Cavan.  We have a developed network of county-wide stakeholders who support our work on a thematic basis. Through our community-based office, we deliver informal adult and youth education programmes through our Social Mornings and Educational Afternoons programmes; and through our ‘youth into digital media’ programmes we run in our Digital Media Zone (DMZ) in Virginia, Cavan.
